Our Story
It started with a single moment—December 2008, -40°C, standing on the frozen shores of Great Slave Lake. Marcus Thompson, then a young bush pilot, watched as ribbons of green light exploded across the Arctic sky. In that instant, he knew his life had changed.
"I'd seen the aurora hundreds of times growing up here," Marcus recalls. "But that night was different. The lights weren't just beautiful—they were alive, dancing with a purpose I couldn't explain. I realized that this magic, this incredible gift of the North, needed to be shared."
Six months later, Aurora Bus was born. What started as a single refurbished school bus and a dream has grown into Yellowknife's most trusted aurora tour operator. But we've never lost sight of what matters: the raw, unfiltered wonder of standing beneath the Northern Lights.
